Terms of Service

Last updated: [DATE — to be set by solicitor]

These terms are currently being finalised by our legal team. The full terms will be published before Wonting launches. If you have questions, contact hello@wonting.co.uk.

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating a Wonting account, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Wonting.

2. Eligibility

Wonting is available only to individuals who are: (a) aged 18 or over, and (b) currently enrolled at a supported UK university, verified by a valid .ac.uk email address. You must not create an account on behalf of another person.

3. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your password secure. You must not share your account credentials. Wonting uses pseudonymous identities — your real name is never shown to other users. However, your account is linked to a verified university email address for accountability.

4. Content and conduct

All content you post is subject to automated AI moderation and may be reviewed by human moderators. You must not post content that: constitutes harassment, hate speech, or threats; contains sexually explicit material; promotes self-harm or violence; infringes copyright or intellectual property; impersonates another person; or violates any applicable law. Wonting reserves the right to remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

5. Pseudonymity, not anonymity

Wonting assigns you a rotating pseudonym. While other users cannot see your real identity, Wonting can identify your account for moderation and legal compliance purposes. If required by law or to protect the safety of users, we may disclose account information to authorities.

6. Intellectual property

Content you post on Wonting remains yours. By posting, you grant Wonting a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to display your content within the app for the purpose of operating the service. This licence ends when you delete your content or your account.

7. Moderation and enforcement

Wonting uses AI-powered pre-publication moderation to screen content before it appears on the feed. Content that is flagged may be blocked, held for human review, or published with a warning. Repeated violations result in trust score reductions and may lead to account suspension or permanent ban.

8. Reporting and welfare

If you see content that violates these terms, use the in-app reporting feature. Wonting aims to review reports within 24 hours. If content suggests a user may be at risk of harm, Wonting may take proactive steps in line with our welfare protocol, which may include contacting university welfare services.

9. Account termination

You may delete your account at any time from Settings. Wonting may also suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. Upon deletion, all your data is permanently removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

10. Limitation of liability

Wonting is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Wonting shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the app. Continued use of Wonting after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
